Hey all talk a look at my Microsoft Xbox360 Chatpad connected to my PSP Phat and Slim. Thanks to Jean over at ps2dev.org and this project that he developed we can all have nice keyboards connected to our PSP's.

My PSP’s are running CFW 4.01 M33-2, a special version of piKey and a custom flash on the Chatpad. Text input is a breeze and it works with the Sony OSK (on screen keyboard) and the Danzeff OSK under AFKIM. It does not work with PSPWrite and other ZX-81 applications because they are not compiled to do so but Jean is working on a compatible drive to make them work natively.

-scancode advanced driver (pikey input driver)
-recompilation of most famous homebrews to enable openKeyboard (direct or through pikey stub) support
-pikey output driver to fake PSPrint presses (to use on dosbox and in other older hb)
-pspirkeyb fake driver

(Edit) I forgot to mention in the Video that there is headphone pass through. When you first turn on the PSP even with the keyboard plugged in the PSP speakers still play sound. However when you want the sound to go to the headphone port you just need to press one of the Volume buttons.

Really its two cords, a remote for a slim and a remote for a phat so that I can connect it to a Phat and a Slim.... I have parts on order so that I can have a PSP Slim remote wired to the Keyboard and have an adapter that on one end has a female PSP Slim remote end and then a PSP Phat male end.

Yeah because your flashing new firmware on the Keyboard. However I have heard that someone (can't tell you who) is working on a way to do it without the flash, but I don't know when/if that will ever work as I'm not involved in that project.

All code can be found on PS2DEV.com I will mirror it here along with my version of Jeans Tut... give me a day or so... Also as I'm doing the tut I'm making a video so there will be a video tut with this one.

But I dont know where to start, so please give me some advice.

Is it possible to hard wire this onto the board in some way and still maintain functionality of the port?
