« on: April 01, 2013, 12:44:06 PM »
I am looking at getting a wasabi for my xbox 360 slim (recent version, Manufacture date is: 2012-11-05. What is the absolute easiest way to get the DVD key out of the drive?  And what do I need to get in order to do it?

Hitachi and The Lite on 1175 aren't that easy  all the other ones are pretty easy to do.

Hitachi drives can not be flashed

Lite on 1175 you have to rgh the console in order to get the key buy this and flash the firmware with you key to the drive
http://www.vgcrepairs.biz/gaming-console-items/xbox-360-tm/replacement-drives/tx-liteon-dg-16d5s-pcb-1175?cPath=132&

Depending on the other types of drives you either have to do the Kamikaze hack by drilling a hole and being careful when you do it so you do not drill to deep   "DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF DRILL MOTOR OR DREMEL TO DRILL" used on WINBOND CHIP 05

on the 03 chip you can scratch the trace cut the trace and resolder after you unlock it.

the hitachi has to be replaced with a 16d5s or 16d4s shell with the LTU replacement board if you are going the lt3.0 route.

Once you rgh and have the cpu key, you enter the key in j runner and extract the dvd bin file from the nand dump. That then gets put in jungle flasher and you would proceed to flash the drive like usual.

Hmm. I was hoping to not have to spend  that much just to mod it. Might be cheaper to try to find an older console to buy and mod.

$70 for the DVD replacement PCB, is this really needed just to read the key? Seems more like something needed to flash the drive so it can read backups.

not only the cost of the PCB Board but all the flashing tools and the tools to do the rgh and stuff you need for rgh now days.

Could you give me a list of what flashing tools I need? I am not familiar with them at all, and there are many to chose from..

EDIT: If I have an RGH modded console, can it be used to read the DVD key of any drive or only the specific drive that belongs to it?

Nand X or jr programmer for reading and writing the nand
(Can also use USB nand reader or make your own LPT  like the one in our jtag tutorial)
coolrunner REV C

being a corona you will need to see what type of mother board you have so we can see what you will need for it

To Flash these new dvd drives need a ck3 and X360usb pro for flashing the dvd drives

The J-Runner Program maybe even com cable same as jr programmer cable

will also need jtag cable to program the  cool runner with nand x

Sounds like you hosed the OS in the wasabi itself.

What would you suggest that allows me to mount iso images and use as drive, so that I dont have to deal with discs all the time?
