Ok I done Softmodded xboxes with out a modchip now i am bored!!! I have done Jtags and Rgh's and few other modifcations like Dual nand's and TX Fusions for RGH consoles... So now i am going old school , I have a few Orignal Xboxes and there boring to play just Regular Xbox.

My question is what is the best mod chip out there for the money to Take a orignal Xbox and use a mod chip? I see they run for anywhere from $5 to $30 which is perfect cause not only am i going to just add the mod chip I have other plans to mod one of these consoles.

If you can help me with the best one that i can do the most options with that would be great. I have done some Research and really not sure what is the best .

i have a Xecuter 2.6 CE in my 1.6 clear xbox

if you want cheap and easy install get a Duox-2 one of the easiest ones i know and ive installed loads of modchips in the xbox 1
but i tell you its not really that easy to get it.

Thanks whitetop for the fast reply, I seen they have a Xecuter3 , i am sure that is a upgrade form the Xecuter 2.6 and is there big difference in what it does compared to the soft mod?

no not really they all do the same from my point of view but the 3.0 has more wires to install the duo and 2.6 are just 1 wire and sits on pinoffs

unless your fuzzy just try a duo very easy to install and sites with no switch that can easy be lost like i did on my XC 2.6 lol but got it back.

I will have to check it out and see ... any possible way of changing to a different Cd or Dvd rom? that will be just as compatiable? i know there complicated dvd drives meaning that they didn't make many that work with it.

i have not messed with the drives as i just put the modchips in them i was going to do a slim xbox some time back but never got around on doing so i think it will be best to look that one up. i have seen people put smaller drive in and just took all the case off on the drive and put the drive board else were. if your thinking of modding it like you said in the chatbox ill like to see that happen

That is the plan. just the soft mod is cool but like to add more to the mod. and like you said finding a mod chip is hard to find.. the idea has been thought of for a while just need to start putting it on paper to make it work. hoping it will all fit in the cage for the slim xbox if not other modifications will have to be done to do this mod.

lol one in the uk not so easy due to that law some time back. it took be just over 6 years to get a XC 2.6 mod chip and that was because i got a 2rd hand modded xbox.

Modchips for Xbox are quite useless now with Xbox Live being gone. The only advantages I can recall is the ability to use unlocked hard drives, lba48 support for bigger hard drive support, changing boot colors/whatnot, multi-bios, and can be more newbie friendly.

As these chips are bios replacements, flashing the TSOP is equivalent to having a chip once done. It does require some soldering however and is not compatible with version 1.6

I believe the Xecuter 3 supported it's X3LCD screen while the 2.6 did not. It's not the only chip with this support, SmartXX did and there were other screen mod boards but it was more of a diy approach rather than Plug and Play.

I not too familiar with regular PC drives, I believe original Xbox games would not work but I have no idea if backup would run. You will have to figure out the tray open/close detection may have to restart it every time... There is also the GDR-8163B and SD-616T PC drives that can be made compatible on the Xbox with the SD-605B and 8050L firmware as well as soldering for the Xbox 12 pin power cable.

Thank you Uai for that information. like i said i have soft modded these in the past. and was thinking of just adding the mod chip just for fun and also putting the orignal xbox in the newer slim version case. just some ideas i had.

Some really good information you left me there. and maybe for other members also. It doesnt matter for xbl its just because i want to do something different.

another question i have is being i want to possibley change the dvd drive and still be able to work , i am hoping to down size the hdd , by using a laptop hard drive. 2.5inch drive instead of the 3.5 that came in the consoles.... I know only certain drives can be

after you install them. being the eeprom has to unlock and lock the key when booting the console.

rodent one way is to just buy a 2rd hand chipped one as 70% on sites they are old fake chips and the real ones are that hard to get.

unless your mate or a supplier can get them don't take notice when others say they can get them if no one else can.

yes you can this is how people do the slim mod of the xbox if you google you will find the info of cloning the hdd 3.5 to the 2.5

The 3 face plates are included, one is a spare xecuter that i use for parts because my son lost a few buttons on the 1st one. The original has the x3 bank switch on it that i used before i got the xecuter faceplate.

All you would need to do is replace the dbl sided tape on the smaller chips and get a pin header for the x3 chip & install.

I also have a motherboard that has 128mb of ram, i added 64mb to the bottom of the motherboard where the empty memory slots were, not a whole lot that uses the extra memory other than emulators.

and don't care for the motherboard with RAM as all my xbox has that Ram Upgrade it was good for old mame day for larger rom

now you can run them all with Kawa or FBAx don't need ram to run them

those pics were taken the minute you asked me to take pics. I give you my work on that and guarantee that it all works.

As far as price goes im just looking to get a viking macro from matt, im not sure of the cost of the viking macro, he only has one let so who ever covers the cost of the chip this stuff will be yours.

I would think that i would have earned the trust of you guys as much as i helped mike and tested for him and keeping all the code we shared private. you work out the cost with matt for the 1 viking makro he has left and all these parts will be yours. I'm not trying to break it off in anyone.

Dude, i will get all the old double sticky tape from the back of the smaller pcb's so its easier for you guys to install, i would never do anyof you guys wrong on here.. Its not hard to potoshop dates on them but thats not what im about. ill post better pics after i get all the old dbl sided tape off. Almost have all the dbl sided tape removed from the small pcbs and im going to bag the seperatley x3ce stuff in one bag, xir stuff in another bag and so on to make it easier for you guy to follow the install directory, i know this stuff is worth more than a viking macro but its what friends are for.

im packaging it up now the way that it came so it doesnt look like a mess and easier for u to install.

I took some more pics for you, i have all the sticky tape removed from the small pcbs and everything seperated into its own bag, the x3 chip ans all its parts is in a antistatic bag, tha x3 ir ans all its componets is sealed in its own antistatic bab and the faceplates will be individual wrapped. i also found a x3 1.6 lpc rebuild kit.

this is going to be a great deal for anyone, if it doesnt work out here ill put it on the xbox-scene and sell for seperate.

its hard to believe after all the stuff i did years ago to help out that you dont trust me but thats cool

Mike is going to get a hell of a trade all this for a simple viking chip, watches this exact parts go for $125 on xbox-scene. but i like mike and he has done me well whe we used to work together. x3's, xecuter faceplate, x3 ir, xlcd's are getting very rare to come by.

well worth it to King Mike , cant wait to see what he does with it, I would of been glad to take it off your hands i am so busy with the jtag and rgh stuff right now and working part time also takes from my time to mod stuff but hope to get back in to modding more also once xbox one comes out .

Its not that i do not trust you.I would of asked it of any member on here or any other site i do business with, I have had members try to scam me and if you ask the members here i have gone out of my way with out asking a penny for some of the things they needed here that i have sent free stuff to just cause i like to see them finish stuff they started.

Mike the only things your going to need to complete the xbox is hdd, dvd drive & case screws.
