I've got the newer version of the ps3 slim 320G and no, it's not the super slim. I've done a few mods to it as you can see in my profile pics if you wanna check'em out. Anyway, I started to do another mod and as I was taking out the blu ray, one of the molex conectors came off of the MB. If you're looking at it from the back, the ribbon I'm speaking of is all the way to the right. I'm thinking that all it is for is the power eject due to the fact that I can still play it, but I can't eject the disc. I'm needing to if that's all this ribbon does. Keep in mind that ALL of the wiring coming from the blu ray are ribbons.

Wont be able to get it tonight though. For conversations sake, I will say that I'm still able to play the game that's in it, I just can't eject it. I hit the eject button and I get three beeps and the game title is no longer displayed on my ps3 menu. But all I need to do to play is turn it off then on again.

Yes, it's the white molex connector that is offset.That darn thing came off on me when I pulled the ribbon. I was wondering what all it does and if I could just solder it or am I just S.O.L.?

well if u pulled the pads your SOL unless you think u can scrape the traces and make a connection
if you didnt pull the pads and the solder points are still there i can remove that connector you need i have a dead jsd-001 here

No, just the plastic came off. The copper traces are still there. I noticed that it was a 6 or 8 wire ribbon so that's why I was wondering if it had multiple purposes. If not, I'm pretty darn good with solder.

hmm ill look into it but if ur saying it works fine just doesnt eject seems like it doesnt serve multi purposes just for eject

It would be helpful if you could get a pic of your board. You say the plastic came off. Did the contacts for the ribbon cable come with?
I had a sata cable connection come off a pc board. The contacts stayed but the plastic came off , so I super glued the plastic back onto the board.

The ribbon came out like it was supposed to do, but the plastic came off in the process. I tried a few things and it DOES have multiple purposses due to the fact that once I scrapped the coating off the ribbon and when testing it, I went from being able to play, just the one game, to three beeps upon turning the power on and no picture. I the removed the ribbon and set it to the side and bam, I can play the one game that's in it. I found another ps3 slim for a really good price so I'm just gonna pick that one up and keep this one for spare parts.

I was kinda thinking about just stashing it back for spare parts considering the fact that the only thing wrong with it is the blu ray, even it is still good it's just the ribbon conector on the MB.

Unfortunately I only have trades available ATM. Cash is very tight. I have been thinking about getting rid of my vita as I dont play it much anymore, but I think the vita's value 3g w a bunch of good games is worth a lil more than your broken slim....

As much as I wish I could, I don't. I was thinking about saying I'd leave all the modds on it but then was thinking how proud of it I am because it was my very first real mod aside from the rp fire controllers. I've got the fans w/ temp. speed control along with leds that can be turned off, stay on or be sound reactive. LOL. I'm just gonna hold on to it for parts. Sorry man.

Thanks man. It was a lot of work in a short time. But your slim board could turn it into something awesome. If you got a controller or two to through in I would be willing to go for it as a straight up trade. Btw some of the games included for the vita.... resistance , black ops, MVC3 , and another shooter I cant remember now. A 4 or 8 gig card also, and some other accessories .

Man, I really don't think I could bring my self to getting rid of it. I do however have a MB from my old ps3 fatboy just taking space on my work bench I'd give ya if it would help. It got the red screen of death though.
