Hey guys. We have set up an official Minecraft server for the readers of Acidmods. The server is called

Minecraft.acidmods.com

It's been up for a few days so some of us have had chance to play around. Including me and nico filling a small crater with about 600 blocks of dynomite and crashing the server and causing it to overload. Meaning we had to reboot but it was fun and now we have a massive crater.

what kinda server gameplay is it? peaceful? i've played on an anarchy server before.. man it was fun but it started causing problems in real life. so i don't reccomend anarchy lol.

Sounds awesome guys! But my only question is... will it work using a cracked tekkit copy? I currently lack the funds to purchase the real thing so am stuck using that.

Won't work I am afraid, server would have to be an 'offline server' meaning no authentication from minecraft.net and that comes with loads of other complications.

And F2 might help Mactastic

Robin, look into some mods which allow only certain people to build in certain areas, so you can give each person a block of land in he main spawn area then have like a wilderness where anything goes.

Edit: Look at the yogbox, it's a compilation of good mods

Why not make it a Tekkit Server? Tekkit is a modified version of Minecraft, with MILLIONS of added stuff. It's really cool. With Tekkit, there's stuff like programmable computers, IC chips, quarry's and much more. Go check it out: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/

I think it would suit Acidmods best because of all the extra content. You never get bored of Tekkit. Ever.
It's really not hard to set it up too.

Anyone else who have played on a Tekkit server?

I have played on a tekkit server, and I have to say, It's absolutely AWESOME, the amount of things there's to do is unending! there is however a client to install on the user's side. I don't know how to set it up though. You'll have to ask cobi_vw about that. He has some great insight on setting up servers and so on. Tekkit is defnately the way to go.

if one connects to your server with a add-on on the server the person needs that add-on im not sure if if they can still play with out it or not

ahhh ok so its not just a case of someone connects to the server and the client automatically downloads the extra textures etc.

well that sucks balls as i want this server at least to be accessible to everyone

i would ask on the minecraft forums as you'll get all the info you want there could be some that auto downloads for people

When you don't have the client tekkit mod, and try to connect to the server, it will tell you that. Tekkit has its own client application for the user. They simply download it and connect to the server from there. Takes less memory than the original minecraft client too.

I don't quite know what that is, however I'll Google and see... I like building stuff....

PS the train is done for now but I am looking into ways to make it umm better...

@ROBIN, that's the one downfall to most any mod. Once you add a mod to the server you almost always need to mod the clients. That's the only reason I stopped pushing bukkit on you, even though I want it :P

We we do decide to mod the server I think we should just have a TOPIC describing the client side changes and links to all the required files... What do you think?
