PC mod
« on: October 10, 2011, 08:30:31 AM »
I'm currently a newbie, so i request some help. I'm not sure if this is the right board though.
I have a WIP project about a micropc console, a bit bigger than wibrain.
First of all i beg you for some ideas and links of the smallest motherboards, which will support around 2.0 single core or 1,5 dual core. Also very small good videocards.
I want to ask you if there is any way i can get a mini-dvd/mini-cd drive (only reader, which reads only small discs and is small in size.)
I don't have much time for more questions now, but ill post when in need.
Thanks beforehand and please, help me :beg: :help: :beg:

what exactly are the size restrictions for what you are intending to build?
we need more info on what you are trying to do before we can help you do it.
My systems:  -PSP 2001, CFW and PSP 3000 shell.  -PSP 1001, LED mods, custom firmware, speaker mods, sound reactive LEDs.  -Black NDSL, LED mod, 0.5x and 2x speed mod.

I am currently picking the parts for the case now so sizes may vary.
I am aiming for something bigger than wibrain, but not much.
I want a videocard around 256/512 MB, low profile, tv-out s-video, 1000 Mhz+ shader clock.
Also the smallest motherboard that will fit it.
I want it to be able to run games like dragon nest or simillar.
But a weaker power supply, i need to use batteries.
Thanks for all kinds of help beforehand ;)

EDIT: I need a very small [VGA 15-pin + S-Video]---to---[mini PCI-e] video card or the smallest version of a tv-out S-video to mini pci-express.

Small mother boards well that would be itx, normally only 1 pci dlot and 2 ddr3 ram slots....comapnys such as zotac and asus have built in wifi and bluetooth, than it depends what you want in processing power,
amd fusion e350 = basic pc functions or media/htpc

amd llano = depending on the apu/cpu you choose you could build a gaming rig if you cross fire with a low profile 6570 (if you still wanna go with a low style case)

than the normal amd/intel cpus = again you could build a huge ass gaming rig on a it mobo.

The biggest issue with your build is power Im assuming you will be running a pico psu that varies from 60 watt to 150 watt...and if thats the case I would advice going with the amd fusion e350 platform since it doesnt need much power and has a built in graphics card 6310 that can handle hd really well...gaming is oki most emultors rum, games such as dawn of war run fine...and basic pc task are perfect, linux also runs smoothly on theese boards

[mod] EDIT- (Please Don't double post.) [/mod]

www.mini-itx.com
Uk based but deal with itx boards some of there stuff is really exspensive.

Truthfully why not just buy a acer w500 runs the amd fusion platform and buy a solar panel to keep it charge than that way you dont need batteries, more powerfull than the mini pc your building has hdmi to plug upto a tv/monitor, bluetooth and the usual usb inputs with card reader...runs windows
