Tracey's new xbox

One of our members recently made a pink xbox with a playboy bunny cut out. My wife loved this so much I had to make her one. I am sorry I did not take any pics of the cutting process, but I will try to document the mod from here forward, and bring you up to speed.

I printed a playboy bunny head enlarged to fill a 8x11 sheet of paper, I then cut the image out carefully only making one cut into the boarder so I can use the outline as a stencil.

The 8x11 paper centers on the case very well, its almost the exact width and fits between the holes vertically helping to center and align your image. I secured the paper to the case using thin strips of tape (so it dosnt cover too much if the actual image) but be sure to use enough pieces that will keep paint from getting under the stencil. Then I painted the case, nothing fancy, just transferring the image.

I then removed the stencil and used my dremmel to cut out the image. when I cut the image out of the case, I want to make sure to keep control of the dremmel to i dont over cut anything and create more work for myself later. When cutting the image, start from the center and cut the image out, leaving a small outline of the painted image.

After the piece is cut, I then took the sanding wheel of my dremmel and finished it off, you want keep the sanding wheel moving around the part (not sitting in one place) sand a whole section at a time, this will make smoother lines. Get as much as you can with the tool SAFELY, you dont want to over cut your image. Finish cleaning the cuts using a 60-80 grit sand paper by hand, use a flat bastard file for the straight areas.once you have your cut shaped the way you like, polish it off with a lighter grit sand paper to smooth the scratches.

Now you need to inspect the back side of the case, remove any of the support molds that will obstruct your window pane. (I use a 8x11 sheet of 1/8 inch lexan I got from lowes for like $1.99 it has a protective sheet on each side to keep from scratching) once you have it fit so it lies completely flat at all areas, lay your window to the side and prep your shell for paint.

find a clean dry place that will ventilate and protect your work from any bugs or dust that may be in the air. I use a scuffing pad to take the shine off the plastic shell and allow for better paint adhesion. use a degreaser, or rubbing alcohol to clean any contaminates from the shell (make sure not to touch the surface with your skin after cleaning(oils)) allow to dry and paint according to paint instructions.

once the paint has fully cured, glue your window inside the shell making sure not to allow glue to squeeze out onto your window or shell. I used 5 min epoxy for mine. clean everything up and get ready for leds and reassembly....another day.

Before you ask:
the eye is just a piece of tape I stuck there, and the protective paper is on the window still.

[gmod]resized those pics as it was bringing up a scroll bar, GhoSt[/gmod]

ok so minor set back today, I wired up my "pink" led's and they are like a dull pink so they clash with the hot pink I painted. so Im off to find new paint. but me and the wife argue about the shade so I have to rig up a "flashlight" lol to make sure I get the best match. I also noticed I have an area that needs to be lit better so I am going to add another led or two.

Ill post some new pics tonight

I had the same problem. What I do is copy the address when viewing the youtube page and paste that in the regular url link tabs.

Funny but true story: I had a very similar tool , for a totally different purpose. So my son got a Lego stuck up his nose... turned out to be a Lego man hand. I couldn't see up his nose very well , to tell if he had something up there or he just had a runny nose or something. (find out if I gotta go to ER or not) So what i did was exactly that only I used a 3mm white led, which had a lil blue in it and made things a lil weird. But the tool looked exactly the same. So the short end to the story:
We go to the ER and are just about to see the Dr. when , he finally sneezes the lil hand out right into my lap. and we go home and stories over... or not
So about a week goes by and my daughter starts having nasal issues and then , I grab my handly lil LED tool and look up there and there is something in there but I can't tell what it is , but I think its a lego head and its stuck. So off to the Dr again. This time I was able to see her regular Dr. and he ended up pulling out (very gently and with great bedside manners btw) ....... a huge un-popped popcorn kernel.
