H-W Technology v.s. The Technological World
« on: April 01, 2011, 05:32:27 PM »
Does the U.S. patent number 7,525,955 ring any bells? How about the ability for a smart phone to connect to applications and thusly download information? Like the Android Marketplace, or eBay’s Mobile app, and for that matter the entire App store running on the iPhone device line. Well it may be something we the users do not think about; however the creators of this technology over at H-W Technology are arming their lawyers to the teeth for an upcoming battle with thirty-two major companies. Including but not limited to Google, Inc.; Research In Motion; Amazon; Apple Inc.; eBay, Inc.; Sony and so many others.

The patented technology that H-W Technology patented back in 2009 allows a mobile device to connect to services through applications and download information and allows the user to complete a transaction, without making a phone call. This technology affects not only applications stores like that used on Android, Blackberry, and iPhone devices but it also effects commerce applications. The technology is described as being “IP (internet protocol) phone technology with searching and advertising capability”.

The most interesting part of the company’s lawsuit is that it doesn’t just target the companies that make the hardware and offer its services, but it is also targeting application makers.

H-W Technologys claims indicate they because there patent has been infringed upon they have experienced monetary losses compared to what the technology would have generated if the thirty-two companies currently listed in their lawsuit would have paid to use their technology.

The only thing that is known right now is that this will be a very long, expensive and controversial lawsuit.
