question about firmware update

SO i have had the D2Ck*y since it came out a long time ago and i am  at firmware 3.4.  i have beeen looking at forums about people saying not to update to 4.1 since they cant downgrade (I assume it is because they all softmodded)  But since mines is hard modded, should worry about any firmware updates?
