Wii track ball
« on: November 07, 2008, 05:32:03 PM »
This is the Wii track ball You will need a few items to do this mod a track ball assembly, an 11 pin .5 mm FPC clasp some wire soldering gun and solder. We will install a track ball on a wii mote for enhanced gamming..

here is the pin out for the track ball

Step one lightly sand down the traces so you are able to solder to them.. Here is an ilistration of the wiring lay out of the Wii-Mote..

Step two solder wires to the point shown in the picture. notice I soldered 3 grounds to one spot this will become aparent later..

Here is the corosponding points for soldering the trackball to the wii-mote

This is what your wii-mote track ball should look like when finished..

hey, I have a sister with cerebral palsy and she has limited capacity with her hands, however we found that she could operate a SNES controller with some difficulty, and she can use a standard PC trackball quite well.

I don't really have experience with modding but I was just wondering if in theory it would be possible to wire this into one of those bigger PC trackballs somehow, and also if this could be applied to the analogue stick instead of the D-PAD?

Its probably way to complicated for me but I would like to know if its anyway possible all the same, cheers.

Seeing as this is no longer available in the shop is anyone able to provide any more details on the trackball used in this mod?

What did he do? I dont really get it. I  wired up the track ball the same way and my results were not that good.
