Sound Reactive Red Green Blue Color Changing LED's
« on: October 19, 2009, 05:28:45 PM »
I have a cool idea, but I don't know if it will work. I want to put two 5mm color changing rainbow LED's into my PSP and make them sound reactive.

http://cgi.ebay.com/10-x-5mm-Red-Green-Blue-Rainbow-Slow-Change-LED-6500mcd_W0QQitemZ150375053975QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item23030d3a97

What would happen if I made each one direct contact (direct connection) sound reactive and soldered one to each speaker? Would it not work at all, or not change color? Or would they be sound reactive AND change color, as I want them to? If I can't make them work through direct contact, and instead I just did it the normal way without making them sound reactive, what kind of resistor would I need? Thanks. If this works, then I will make a tutorial on how to do it.

you cant have sound reactive color changing as they require constant voltage which is why it has never been done before.

nah you can fit them in with some effort but yeah you cant have sound reactive ones and i would only recommend that kind of mod for an experienced modded difficulty level of about 4.8 / 5.

and about those smd ones they may work but you will need to read the docs and create the appropriate circuit using power and ground points from the psp.

it may work on the power led if configured correctly.

Won't the changing voltage from alternating sound from the speakers change the color of the LED's if I were to make them direct contact sound reactive?

I believe you could make a sound reactive color changing LED set-up using a quad op-amp and alot of testing...  Interested?  If so, I think I could draw a schematic....  Like the louder it gets, a different color will come out of it....
