need a power source in a 360 wireless controller

i need a permanent power source in a 360 wireless controller turned on when the controller is on... off when it is off...

I'm pretty sure there isn't a standby power source unless you use a transistor?

correct me if I'm wrong.

What is v+? as far as a permanent power source, do you mean you want to have a controller that never runs out of juice? or for Led's? I wonder if its at all possible to make a controller permanently have power, o more duracell's? Oh, yeah!! What about adding a battery for Led's, like one of those round batteries you find in a car stereo remote? Can it be done? Sorry if I am asking in the wrong thread, But I figured, power source in a 360 controller would be the right place to ask.

Ok here is what I can tell you because I recently went through this problem as well. With the matrix controller I only found a 2 volt output with a switched power point. Meaning it will turn on and off with the controller being turned on or off. Below the left trigger pot are 3 holes. The far left is a switched power but is only a 2 volt output on a matrix. CG board has 3 volt switched power points but as far as I know the matrix does not. If you tell us what your trying to acheive maybe we can help a little more. I am assuming your wanting to do some led work but I will let you tell us.

Amerikun Soljia Yes you can add a coin cell battery to get more power if you want but then I believe you will also need to put an on and off switch in to. Your coin cell batteries need to have solder tabs on them  or you have to clean the battery with phosphoric acid. and then you can solder to the battery. I use naval jelly. Its phosphoric based.  However I MUST SAY IF YOUR SOLDERING BATTERIES MAKE SURE YOUR EXPERIENCED TO DO IT BECAUSE THEY CAN AND WILL EXPLODE WITH TO MUCH HEAT!!!!

Yes, I am trying to do leds that I can turn on and off when I wish, not just when the controller is on they stay on. some days you don't want all that light, ya know? so I want to install a switch and battery.

on a matrix controller the normal 3V source that most people use, is battery voltage when the controlller is off and 3V when it is on.  The 2V source that lilunwl suggestted will also work but limits you pretty much to red LEDs.

A common solution that people who want 3V from there matrix that is switched is to use a NPN transistor whose base hooks up through a 1.5k resistor to the 2V spot.  the Emitter hooks up to ground and the collector hooks up to the ground of the circuit you are installing.  what this does is breaks the ground connection when the controller is off which will disable your circuit even tho positive connection of your installed circuit is connected to the live 3V spot.

CG does not have this problem the 3V spot is switched off when controller is not on.
